Alton Decorative and Fine Arts Society

Welcome

Alton Decorative and Fine Arts Society (ADFAS) holds ten evening lectures during the year at 8pm (preceded by a glass of wine) on the second Tuesday of the month - generally at The Forum, Alton College.

See our lecture programme for 2012.

The visit to Eltham Palace and Danson House, which is billed on our programme card for Monday 19 September, should in fact read Wednesday 19 September.

The lectures cover a wide range of subjects from individual artists to art movements through to music, architecture and the decorative arts. A précis appears in our quarterly Newsletter so you should have an idea of the content of the evening in advance.

We usually make three or four visits a year to exhibitions, houses or gardens. Special Interest Days are a popular part of the programme when we have a day examining a particular topic with an expert. They are held in a variety of venues and include lunch. We are part of the National Association of Decorative and Fine Art Societies (NADFAS) which was founded 40 years ago and now has over 330 societies and 90,000 members worldwide. As a member you will receive NADFAS Review, a national magazine printed quarterly.

We welcome new members at any time of the year because we do not have a waiting list being fortunate in the size of our meeting venue, which is the limiting factor for many groups. If you are interested in joining simply come along to one of our lectures and ask for our Membership Secretary at the door. In addition, guests are welcome at our lectures (on payment of a small fee) - please contact the Chairman Peter Wilson.
